Getting Fit: A challenge for beginner runners or those of you who want to start running.

Week 1: Run one minute. Walk 90 seconds. Repeat eight times. Do three times a week.

Week 2: Run two minutes. Walk one minute. Repeat seven times. Do three times a week.

Week 3: Run three minutes. Walk one minute. Repeat six times. Do three times a week.

Week 4: Run five minutes. Walk two minutes. Repeat four times. Do three times a week.

Week 5: Run eight minutes. Walk two minutes. Repeat three times. Do three times a week.

Week 6: Run twelve minutes. Walk one minute. Repeat three times. Do three times a week.

Week 7: Run fifteen minutes. Walk one minute. Run fifteen minutes. Do three times a week.

Week 8: Run thirty minutes continuously.

Okay seriously noting this for myself. I am doing this when I get back to the gym in a week and a half or so. Yes please!

How Stay Healthy During The Holidays:
From Halloween to Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas; Staying fit and healthy during these times can be extremely challenging, and any fitness oriented person will tell you that. With all of the calorie loaded sweets and foods being consumed and passed around, its hard not to indulge. Here are a few tips and tricks to keep you going through the holiday season.
#1: Eat before you go
Try to eat a meal before you go to a holiday party or event so you don’t wind up having to eat the calorie loaded foods because you’re hungry. Try foods that are high in fiber, as these will help you feel full longer. Also, drink a glass of water, this can make you feel even fuller. 
#2: Choose one treat
Remember: Moderation not deprivation. Make it a personal rule to only allow yourself one treat per every party you visit. Eat it slowly and really savor the flavors. Food is your friend, not your enemy. If you’re going to eat something a little unhealthy, might as well make the best out of it! 
#3: Control your drinking
As many of us know, millions of people consume alcohol during the holidays. Alcohol is an easy way to consume more calories than needed, so avoid mixed or fruity flavored drinks. Drink a glass of water after every drink you consume. Avoid eggnog and sodas all together if possible. They are loaded in cals. 
#4: Eat small meals and snacks all day 
To prevent binging, snack on healthy small meals and snacks to keep the hunger feeling away. When your mind realizes you’re hungry, it automatically tells you to consume whatever you can. This can cause a binge on unhealthy food, and who would want that? Also, bring a small bag of almonds or veggies for a quick snack when on the go. 
#5: Stay Active
Many people get lazy when the weather gets colder. This is due to them being stuck inside where its cozy and warm. Screw that! Get out there and rip that gym up. Buy some long running pants and shirts to keep you warm when running outside. I promise, after the first 5 minutes of your intense workout, you won’t be cold anymore. 
#6 Be realistic about your weight
Don’t try to lose pounds during the holidays, but rather maintain your current weight. Its the holidays, just worry about having a good time with the people you love, not your weight. 
#7 Bring your own healthy dish to a holiday gathering
Who doesn’t love a little healthy cooking? Find a healthy recipe online and bring it to a party. This way, you can have a little something healthy for you, and feel guilt free why eating it. 
#8 If you overeat at one meal, go light on the next
If you eat something delicious and can’t help yourself to one more serving, go light on your next meal. Eat foods strong in antioxidants and drink of plenty of water to help fully cleanse your body. Think lean meats.
